Guess the Painter

I'll give some hints cause its tricky.

1. He is not well known for his paintings.

2. He lived in the 20th Century

3. He never married (correction by Cach, married for 1 day.)

4. He was a great orator. Maybe one of the greatest.

Actually, he was married, but only for a day. And just how is he close to Elvis? (That's the kind of deranged comment only a rabid Beatles fan could make with a straight face...)

Heeey. Didn't know he was married for a day...

Wow, learn something new everyday in this here bloggin world.

Good observation on the other remark. I guess the only way Elvis would be closer is that they both had thousands of unmerited worshipers.

You said Orator...

ghandi?

True, he was an orator and elvis wasn't, but I didn't say they were exactly alike, or really alike at all. I just said that the guess of Elvis is closer than Monet, as far as "the guess" itself goes.

If it were a normal known artist then maybe an early Monet would work but this guy isn't really known for his art...

Ghandi is closer I would say...

What a wedding gift he gave her btw!

I know, I know! But that's just because I live with you and made you tell.

When I think orator, I think WJ Bryan and Churchill. I'm drawing a blank.

read that last comment as, "I'm lazy and give up."

Churchill... getting warmer... warmer...

I was thinking Churchill myself, but then I think he was married, huh? Is the picture of the London Opera House? I've seen that somewhere before. Hmmmmm

Hitler?

Okay...I just googled and found out that Hitler is right! And I was way off thinking that the building was in London. :) Looks like it was Vienna. I felt dirty just googling the name "Hitler." Blech. What a sad and disgusting individual.

Seth Ward said...

YOU GOT IT!

"What a sad and disgusting individual."

Yes but... There was a time when he wasn't sad and disgusting. I think that is harder to accept than to think of him as the embodiment of evil. No man is created completly evil. It is weird to think that if the Academy would have accepted him then there would have been no Holocaust.

If you think in that way, couldn't you say that if I weren't accepted to the music school that I might have become the next president and then the greatest mass murderer that ever lived?

Just something to chew on.

I would say that the same is true of Art in general.

And yes, it's in Vienna. In fact it's the Vienna Staatsoper.

OK, I get your point... Maybe I'm a little bit biased, but no, we couldn't say that at all. Because there are way too many other factors to consider here. If music was never a part of your life, you still might of turned out OK, and probably would have because of the family you had, your faith, yada yada, the fact that even before music you chose God.

I wouldn't go so far to say that the reason Hitler was a mass murderer was because his art was denied. He made evil choices because evil was in the man's heart. Besides he still had his art, he just didn't get praised for it. If the academy would have accepted him there would have been no Holocaust...MAYBE. How do we know this?

Seth, don't let something small like music school get in the way of your dreams and aspirations.

Seth Ward said...

Nice. I think I will give world dominance a go. Screw music! Oh wait, I have no excuse, I've been in a music school for over 10 years now. .. Maybe I will be a painter.

Fancy, I am working up a good one for you.

"Yes but... There was a time when he wasn't sad and disgusting. I think that is harder to accept than to think of him as the embodiment of evil." - That's so true, Seth. Even the Hitlers of the world were once precious little babies whose mothers rocked them to sleep at night. And as hard as it is for the world to believe, God loves the Hitlers as much as he loves us.

And as you go for world domination, don't forget to practice your piano!

Because there are way too many other factors to consider here.

For instance, Hitler was also a vegetarian.

Seth Ward said...

Yeah, and a teetotaler as well. He never drank a lick of liquor. Shoot! He would have made a great Baptist and fit right in at the restaurants during the San Antonio convention.

Also, it is interesting to note that Hitler embraced a kind of Christianity that was called Positive Christianity where it nearly rejected all passive aspects of Jesus and emphasized the whole Militant Jesus thing. And they do have verses that support. This type of Christianity was where they got their "crooked cross." He admired Martin Luther and thought he was a hero.
